I am a contemporary realist painter. I studied with Wayne Thieboud and Graham Nickson and their work informs my own.
In 1997 I was given a studio in the World Trade Center where I painted cityscapes. After that I received a scholarship to the New York Studio School where the emphasis was on formal considerations and the human form. In 2005 I became artist in residence on Governors Island. The island has a spectacular view of Manhattan that I found irresistible and an appropriate companion to the work I had started in the World Trade Center.
Recently I have returned to the figure. The metaphor of the human form in the context of formal considerations keeps re-emerging in my creative process and remains my primary focus. It is a metaphor for a dialogue between the transitory and the enduring.
