Artist's Bio:

A lifelong artist, Karen Zilly began her career in Chicago, IL, and spent many years as a working artist in New York City's East Village. Now her home base is in Long Beach, CA, where she continues to work as an artist and designer, and savors time spent near the water, or wandering among plants and pages of haiku. Influenced by poetry and haiku, language studies, nature and travel, her minimal compositions are gracefully nuanced; bold colors are tempered with introspection, and textural moments reveal a technique at once vigorous yet delicate. The final images that arise display a conscious sensitivity that captivates with drama and calms with a peaceful sureness.
