Timonde was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. His father, a military colonel in the Haitian army, was involved in the attempted coup against the then newly elected president of Haiti, the infamous “Papa Doc” Duvalier, in 1963. His family along with other military families were forced into an exile. He grew up New York City and graduated from St. John’s University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Arts.
Timonde been painting seriously for about 20 years but have rarely shown my work. His studio is located in Harlem on 107 Street and 3rd Avenue.
He is a life member of the Art Student League of New York and have studied under Ronnie Landfield, Farrell Brickhouse and with Andrew Ginzel. In May 2017, he had a year-long one man show at the Bev Gallery at Molloy College. In the summer of 2018, He participated in a residency at Con Artist Collective and Gallery on Ludlow Street. At the end of the residency, Timonde was featured in a four-men show entitled “Transumanza.” In Fall 2019, he participated in the Harlem Art Walk and opened his studio to local artists.
