Our History

Initially dedicated to art auctions for cultural nonprofits, BenefitEvents quickly embraced the extraordinary diversity of America's charitable organizations and their tradition of auction-based fundraising.

BenefitEvents has continued to refine and elaborate its original platform in close collaboration with its clients. With its roots in the fine arts, a concern for aesthetics has been a constant, and that attention to detail is reflected in our unsurpassed customer service.

Jim Wintner, Founder and CEO

Jim is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, with a degree in electrical engineering. Later studies in urban planning and architecture inspired a passion for the arts that merged with Jim's tech background to create two pioneering web portals: Colophon Page for limited edition books; PhotoArts for fine art photography.

PhotoArts.com conducted the first online fine art photography auction in 1998! The ground-breaking online auction software, developed under Jim's direction, evolved into a full-fledged platform for online fundraising, and BenefitEvents.com was born.

Mobile bidding offers the convenience of anywhere, anytime bidding; the elimination of paper bid sheets; SMS outbid notifications; and instant event accounting. Diamond Mind Clients

Are you a Diamond Mind client? You can make DM the payment backend for your auction event. Bidders register via a secure DM form that captures their credit card info in advance, and manages immediate batch processing of payments at the conclusion of your event. Please contact us for details.  

Pricing:

  • 10% of successful auction bids up to $25K;
  • 5% of bids above that amount.
  • Auctions that have less than $5K in bids pay flat fee of $500.
  • This minimum fee is paid as a deposit.
  • Donations are processed without charge.
  • Basic ticketing processed without charge.
  • First time clients receive 10% off fees due above $500.

Our Guarantee:

If you are not completely satisfied with our services, there will be no cost to you beyond the auction deposit.
